Stolen religious
painting recovered
The famous
Renaissance painting worth NOK 20 million which was stolen from the
Larvik Church in
Vestfold early Sunday, has been recovered, apparently unharmed. One man has been arrested.
A spokesman for the Vestfold
police precinct said Wednesday evening that the painting had been found in a van, and was now in police hands.
One person has been arrested, charged with having participated in the theft, police said. They were not willing to give more details at this time.
The painting by
Lucas Cranach (1472-1553), a personal friend of
Martin Luther, has hung in the Larvik Church for 330 years.
The painting titled \"Let the small children come to me\", and was painted 450 years ago.
