Bergen pictures, hiking the mount Fløyen

Today we went for a long walk. We started by taking the Fløibanen up to mount Fløyen, one of the 7 mountains surrounding Bergen. After taking allot of pictures we walked down and on the way we stopped for even more pictures....

Our home is down there some where.

And my workplace is down there :-)

As i say earlier, we used the Fløibanen up to the top, Fløibanen is a funicular who is taking tourists an the ones who is living in the hill side up and down. This wheel was change some years ago and was the main wheel for running the funicular.

We are now allmoust down in city again, and on the way there is a old firestation (Skansen Brannstasjon) overlooking the city.

Thise one i taken only for Richard, who has a thing about Vikings.

Bergen history lesson..

Vikings..
Yes we are the Vikings, and we are always ready....

Noo. I'm just joking.

This one is a replica from one of the many ships we had. It was working by sail or by rowing.

It's named after the King Haakon Haakonsson

In the front, they always put some creatures to scare of the enemy

This one is not a Viking.

Here name was "Madam Felle" and in the old days she had a bar/pub where people could come and get drunk..

At the bottom of the statue it shows how they believe it was

Back to old history again.

This is the place of the first woman hospital (st. catherine's hospital)

And now at the end we are entering the Bryggen Museum (Harbor museum)

This is from the old old parts, who was burned down in year 1170

Her is items from excavation and from old buildings in Bergen

Thise one shows toys.

On the right you kan see a early model of a ice skate, there is allso a ball and some other stuff.

This is a model of the old Bergen around year 1200 - 1300

around year 1300 Bergen was a trading center of European importance. The city had between 5 and 10,000, maybe about 7,000 inhabitants, and was clearly the largest and most important in the country. In European standards was a averige big city.

This is one of the Norwegians Kings (Magnus Lagabøte), in old old days Bergen was the capitol of Norway and the place the Kings ruled the country

Summer in Byrkjelo

Just for showing of.. The weather is perfect and we went for a walk :-)
This picture is showing Byrkjelo It's a nice little place in Sogn & Fjordane in western Norway. If you press the link "Byrkjelo" you will find information about the place if you go to "ACTIVITIES"

You know you are at the country-side, when you find these kind of street sign. And no, it's not a public street sign. (For the one who don't know, John Deere is a Tractor brand)

And at the end a tree, maybe just a tree but a nice and old one. If it could talk i guess it would have allot to tell..

Now we are at the end for to day, we are leaving on Sunday and i will try to write a post before we leave (maybe two)
